Today’s Word

Colossians 3:23-24

Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people. Remember that the Lord will give you an inheritance as your reward, and that the Master you are serving is Christ. Colossians 3:23-24 (NLT)

The alarm sounds. Your calendar is full, your inbox is disorderly, and yesterday’s worship already feels distant. Somewhere between the sanctuary and the commute, an old assumption returns: spiritual life happens at church; ordinary life happens here. But Jesus didn’t stay behind when you left the service. Paul calls believers to work heartily for the Lord. That invitation brings your Monday responsibilities into the light of Christ’s presence. The report, the consultation, the lesson plan, and the difficult conversation can become opportunities for faithful obedience. You do not need a pulpit to disciple younger Christian professionals. You need a heart surrendered to God. This does not make every workplace decision simple or every assignment enjoyable. It means your workday is never beyond God’s care. He cares about what you produce, how you produce it, and the people affected by your decisions. Before opening another application, pause. What changes when you remember Christ's presence? Perhaps you listen without interrupting. Perhaps you refuse to exaggerate a result. Perhaps you complete an unnoticed responsibility with care because the person who depends on it matters to God. Worship continues when your convictions become actions. The danger is not merely forgetting to pray at work. It is living as if God has no interest in your work. Bring Him your deadlines, ambitions, frustrations, and questions. Invite His wisdom into the areas you usually manage alone. Your office is not a waiting room for meaningful Christian service. Today offers real opportunities to love God and to serve your neighbor. Reflection: Which responsibility have you considered spiritually insignificant? How could you approach it today as an offering to Christ? Prayer: Lord Jesus, awaken me to Your presence at my workplace. Let Sunday’s confession shape my choices on Monday. Receive my ordinary tasks and teach me to perform them with love and a sense of stewardship as unto the Lord. Amen.
